What is a Risk Champion?
A RISK CHAMPION is a person who works with the Insurance Board and Conferences to set a good example, to encourage and inspire church leaders, employees and volunteers to make positive changes that help create and maintain a safe ministry for all. Risk Champions take seriously their role in engaging all leaders, employees and volunteers in improving church safety and in creating a safety culture. Risk Champions will work with Conference leadership, insurance agents, and churches to help us reduce the risk of accidents and claims.
SERVICES AND ACTIVITIES MAY INCLUDE:
Serve as a conduit delivering the Insurance Board messages via email and/or direct conversations.
Provide guidance on loss control resources and initiatives.
Coordinate group meetings with their local agents/Insurance Board and churches virtually, as well as in person.
Participate in quarterly Insurance Board sessions and share their knowledge with others.
Lead discussions, ask and answer questions that are geared to make churches aware of what is available to them and where to obtain more information as needed.
Increase others’ knowledge and awareness of health and safety in a ministerial setting.
Endorse Insurance Board messaging that reinforces a culture of safety.
Work to influence positive changes within and among the churches.
Obtain, store and distribute cost effective measures to reduce risk and the cost of risk and insurance.
