Search Committee Receiving Profiles

Dewan Keesee

“As we head into our second month of receiving profiles, our Conference Minister Search Committee has met once again to check in, ask questions, and prepare for the process of evaluating candidates and beginning interviews in April. We're so thankful for the guidance of Rev. Lee Albertson from the UCC's national staff.

In these months, as we are bound by confidentiality not to report many details, we'd like to offer reflections from each of our Search Committee members about their experience of serving. This month, we hear from Dewan Keesee of Fellowship Congregational UCC in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Dewan is also serving as the chaplain for the Search Committee.” - Rev. Rachael Pryor, Committee Chair

Dewan writes: We have all experienced the effects of leaders impacting our daily lives, whether we’ve brought that leader to their current position, or not. I did not have the benefit of growing up in the UCC, and so I was pleasantly surprised to have been asked to represent my home church in such an important capacity. I suspect it helped that I am rarely lacking an opinion! Given the moment that we find ourselves in, I felt it was important to accept, and help to find someone who would continue to push us forward. I am proud to be among the members of the Search Committee, who have shown themselves to be highly capable and sincere in their efforts. [We are all] doing the hard work of finding someone to follow Edith Guffey. I can’t provide any updates at this time, but be assured that the work is underway. May God's love and peace find you where you are and sustain you on your current journey.
