KIFA Advocacy Day at the Capitol

Many of us are active with Kansas Interfaith Action, which is a statewide, multi–faith issue–advocacy organization that “puts faith into action” by educating, engaging and advocating on behalf of people of faith and the public regarding critical social, economic, and climate justice issues. Revs. Lorraine Ceniceros and Rachael Pryor both serve on the KIFA Board of Directors.

KIFA has  "advocacy day" once a year where people of faith gather at the statehouse in Topeka to meet with legislators and express our concerns. KIFA provides talking points and can partner you with others who have done this before if this is new for you.

This year's event is Monday, Feb. 6th. Several of us are planning to attend. If you're interested, please RSVP on their website here. It is helpful for them to know as far as possible in advance who is coming so they can start building the schedule of meetings for the day. They are hoping for a critical mass of clergy and laypeople are also very welcome.

KIFA's legislative priorities for 2023 can be found here. That will give you a good sense of what we'll be talking to elected officials about. If you've never been to a legislative meeting before, here's a one-page document with some tips. It can be intimidating at first but the folks from KIFA are there to assist and help us learn.
