An Urgent Need in Tulsa

Friends, in the early morning hours of Sunday, June 18, three tornadoes touched down in and around the Tulsa area with winds ranging between 86 miles per hour to 110 miles an hour.  Extensive damage was the result of the storms along with downed power lines. With more thunderstorms moving through the area on Wednesday, repairs crews were hampered in their work. Prolonged outages into this weekend are expected for some residents.

Fellowship Congregational Church suffered damage to its campus, and it is currently unknown if the church experienced structural damage. The church and some surrounding areas are still without power. Rev. Chris Moore, pastor of FCC, reported the most urgent need is fresh food for those who live at the lower income ranges. Food insecurity is a real challenge for many, and in the wake of a devastating storm that challenge becomes a critical need.

Please consider giving to our UCC Congregation in Tulsa as they strive to help those who are experiencing hardship due to the recent tornados, and as they work to restore their campus.  You can donate through Disaster Fund – Tulsa . The link can also be reached through the Donation Portal on our KO Conference website.

Together we are the Conference.

Blessings,

Lorraine
