A Love Letter from Rev. Chris Moore and Fellowship Congregational UCC in Tulsa, Oklahoma

In the darkest days of the Civil Rights movement in the 60s, we’re told that Dr. King would call Mahalia Jackson in the middle of the night to have her sing him, “Precious Lord, Take My Hand,” a hymn that gave him hope and strength.  It was not when the victories had been won, but when the forces seemed stacked against him that he needed that support.

Here, in these challenging times, as forces rally against the LGBTQIA+ community, we too sing a song of support, calling out that you are not alone, that we will not give up the fight, and that the loud, attacking voices are not the majority of voices, just the ones who have power for now.

We will not let hate win, for it cannot.  It never does.  As we approach Easter, we know this to be true.  God’s love will resurrect the promise of hope and deliverance for ALL of God’s beloved children!
