If your church currently offers any Our Whole Lives (OWL) sexuality education programming or would like to start or restart an OWL program, then GOOD NEWS!
Plymouth Congregational Church in Lawrence will host an OWL training for all three levels of OWL on Feb. 28-March 1. National trainers are coming to train at the elementary, secondary, and adult levels. These trainings encompass a full weekend, from Friday evening through Sunday afternoon and give participants a vibrant opportunity for personal growth and valuable information. Cost of the training is $275 (The original posting incorrectly stated $250) and includes six meals and workshop materials. It does not include the curriculum, though books will be available for your use during the workshop.
PLEASE NOTE: The secondary level training has been filled, but the host has created a wait list on the likely chance that some registrants may cancel. A few spots are still available at the other two training levels, but quick registration is advised.
Trainings in our Kansas-Oklahoma Conference region don’t happen often, so this upcoming training is a more cost-effective way to train facilitators or to jump-start a program within your church.
If you are interested in training or have questions about the program, contact Susan Anderson, Plymouth’s CE director and training host, firstname.lastname@example.org. Or you can contact two of the local trainers, Judith Galas, email@example.com, who will be training at the elementary level, or Tracey Weston, firstname.lastname@example.org, who will be one of the young adult/adult/older adult trainers.
PLEASE NOTE: Early registration is advised, as workshops may close once full enrollment is reached. Let Susan know of your interest, even if you don’t have payment to send immediately.
Also, the Our Whole Lives program has just expanded its offerings to include a program for older adults, age 65+. If your congregation is interested in expanding its offerings to older members, then Older Adult OWL would be an excellent choice, and the Lawrence training would be a good way to get some facilitators trained for your faith community.
The OWL sexuality education program is nationally respected; it saves and enriches lives. Jointly created and sponsored by the United Church of Christ and the Unitarian Universalist Association, OWL affirms the worth and dignity of all and the appreciation of God’s gift of sexuality.
