On Sunday, Peace UCC in Alma, KS voted to call Michael Vollbrect as their new pastor. Michael has been a Member in Discernment at Plymouth Church since 2016 and is in his 3rd year of seminary at Central Baptist Theological Seminary. In addition to seminary, Michael has been deepening his ministry and experience through serving as pulpit supply in KO congregations, completing a 6 month Justice Ministry Education cohort focused on White Privilege and the Poor People’s campaign and serving in numerous ways at Plymouth. Michael is also a General Synod delegate. He has served as the technology staff support at the last two Annual Meetings and was on the 2018 KO Annual Meeting Planning Committee. In his spare time, Michael has also held down a full-time job at Washburn University.
The Committee on Ministry has already been working closely with Michael and will be requested to grant him a license to serve Peace until he completes the ordination process.
Michael and his partner Matt already live in the area, so there is no need for them to relocate and we don’t need to welcome Michael to KO! We do need to welcome Michael as he begins serving among us in a new way and to support Peace as they prepare to welcome a new pastor.
